Judith Haasis

Executive Director at CommunityHealth

  • About Judith

    Judith Haasis, MSSW, ACSW is the Executive Director of CommunityHealth, the largest free clinic in the nation. She has more than 20 years of senior management experience in the nonprofit sector where she has spearheaded the growth of organizations involved in direct services, advocacy, leadership development and philanthropy at both the community and national levels. Ms. Haasis is a founding member and Chair of the Illinois Association of Free and Charitable Clinics and serves on the Board of the Chicago based South Side Healthcare Collaborative. She is a member of the Community Leadership Board of Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, the Community Advisory Council of the University of Chicago Medicine and the Health Advisory Committee of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant & Refugee Rights. A fellow of the Institute of Medicine of Chicago, Ms. Haasis has been the recipient of numerous honors, including the Henry P. Russe, MD Citation for Exemplary Compassion in Health Care and the 2017 Community Leadership Award from the Chicago Health Executives Forum.


MJ Burg

  • About MJ

    MJ Burg has over 30 years leadership experience in the health care industry, having served the hospital and health system, health plan, employee benefits, data and analytics and consulting firm communities. Her expertise includes hospital program management, provider contracting and network development, employer health care strategy development, benchmarking and program design, pricing, program implementation and vendor management, and measuring program value and impact.

    Most recently, MJ was a Senior Vice President of Health & Benefits Consulting for Aon. There she was responsible for leading client teams in delivery of consulting, actuarial and vendor management engagements. She also led the manufacturing industry vertical, which was an internal resource group that helped promote benchmarking and best practice sharing for other client teams that supported manufacturing employers.

    Immediately prior to joining Aon, MJ served as regional account management lead for Truven Health, an IBM company that provides data warehousing and analytic services for the health care industry. She worked with employers, and had overall responsibility for client retention and satisfaction.

    She also served as VP of Employee Benefits for North America for a global printing company, with responsibility for strategy and design, administration and communications. While in this role she held board positions with the Midwest Business Group on Health and the National Business Group on Health and served in a client advisory capacity to Cigna and Magellan Behavioral Health.

    Her hospital and health system management experience includes developing and managing social service and discharge planning functions in order for hospitals to comply with accreditation requirements.

    Health plan experiences include leadership roles in the network development, provider relations, product management and customer experience functions, including oversight of a National Accounts Client Advisory Board that helped to guide strategy, product and solution delivery for the enterprise. She represented Cigna as a health plan advisor to the National Business Group on Health.

    Past consulting experience includes work with providers to develop organizations and capabilities to support risk-bearing contracts.

Esther Corpuz

Chief Executive Officer at Alivio Health Medical Center

  • About Esther

    Esther Corpuz is a seasoned healthcare executive with over 30 years of experience in both community health centers and hospital markets. Before Alivio Medical Center, Ms. Corpuz was Vice President of Government & Civic Relations for Vanguard Health Systems, Chicago Market. Serving in a number of progressive leadership roles since joining MacNeal Hospital in October 1994, Corpuz led Vanguard’s engagement in Chicago’s diverse civic and community outreach initiatives.

    Early in her tenure at MacNeal Hospital, Corpuz was instrumental in establishing a number of hospital-wide initiatives that address the specific needs of Latino patients, MacNeal’s fastest growing patient population. Corpuz was a lead supporter in introducing Illinois legislation that requires healthcare institutions to provide trained medical interpreters, a program she established at MacNeal Hospital in 1998. As a volunteer, she saw the need for increasing the bilingual workforce in healthcare and assisted The National Latino Education Institute (NLEI), formerly The Spanish Coalition for Jobs, in funding and implementing the first Bilingual Medical Assistant (BMA) Program. Before her arrival at MacNeal Hospital, Corpuz served as the Director of Primary Care for Mount Sinai Hospital and was responsible for the overall operations of 14 primary care centers. She has also worked in various consulting assignments, assisting with provider and physician development initiatives.

Dr. Griffin Myers

Chief Medical Officer at Oak Street Health

  • About Griffin

    Dr. Griffin Myers, Chief Medical Officer, is a board-certified physician responsible for the excellence of healthcare delivery at Oak Street Health. Oak Street Health is a growing organization of value-based primary care centers serving adults on Medicare headquartered in Chicago. Dr. Myers is also a co-founder of the company.

    At Oak Street Health, Dr. Myers has successfully guided the company’s growth into additional markets and explores additional partnerships to broaden the company’s reach. He has built the medical group and helped to develop the innovative care model at Oak Street. He is a frequent speaker and publisher on behalf of the company and a rising voice in the healthcare industry.

    Prior to Oak Street Health, Dr. Myers was a Clinical Fellow at Harvard Medical School, where he did his Residency in emergency medicine at the Brigham and Women’s and Massachusetts General Hospitals. He previously worked as a Project Leader at The Boston Consulting Group.

    Dr. Myers is B.S. graduate of Davidson College, has an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and has an M.D. from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and an Adjunct Instructor of Emergency Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Myers is also a Fellow at Doximity, a Thought Leader for the New England Journal of Medicine Catalyst, a 2017 Presidential Leadership Scholar, an Aspen Health Innovators Fellow, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network

    Dr. Myers lives with his wife, Diana, and dog, Cruz. When not working, he enjoys reading, backpacking, and running.

Rebecca Shi

Executive Director at Illinois Business Immigration Coalition

  • About Rebecca

    As Illinois Business Immigration Coalition's executive director, Rebecca Shi works directly with a steering committee of 79 Illinois-based CEOs, University presidents, chambers of commerce and immigrant advocates to develop and implement strategy that support the passage of federal immigration reform. IBIC has been extraordinarily effective in moving the politics of the state, winning public bipartisan support from the majority of Illinois's Congressional delegation for commonsense immigration reform. IBIC has helped to launch a sister coalition in Florida, IMPAC FUND.

    In 2013, Rebecca led the passage of Illinois SB 957 - temporary visitors driver's licenses (TVDL) with bipartisan support from the Illinois General Assembly. Signed by Governor Quinn and continued under Governor Rauner, the program has licensed and insured over 270,000 undocumented immigrant drivers in Illinois making the roads safer for all, protecting hardworking immigrant families, and injecting $30 million new dollars to the state each year. Rebecca also led the successful passage of "AllKids HB3756" to provide health coverage for all low income Illinois children regardless of their immigration status and the Illinois Trust Act SB 31 to enable local law enforcement to focus on community safety and not immigration enforcement in 2017. Rebecca worked closely with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the City Council to strengthen its Sanctuary City ordinance by providing $1.3 million in public funds to assist immigrants in legal defense and family protection. Rebecca is skilled at building broad coalition of business, labor, faith, law enforcement, government and immigrant leaders to achieve practical immigration solutions that grows the economy, creates jobs, and protects hardworking immigrant families.

    Rebecca's organizing work in Chicago's Chinatown community has led to an award winning new library, a new field house, a new district and the first Asian American representative in Illinois legislature. A graduate of the University of Chicago, Rebecca was named a “20 in Their 20s” by Crain’s Chicago Business, and a "Community Leader" by the Asian American Coalition of Chicago, Rebecca's work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Crain's Business Chicago, CNN, POLITICO, NYTimes, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, and other press outlets. Rebecca is an Edgar Fellow, serves on the board of Alivio Medical Center and UIC Asian American advisory board.
