Roderick Borisade

Roderick Borisade was born in Jacksonville, FL. and endured a rough childhood of having a drug-addicted mother, an absent father, and a brother to die of brain cancer. Despite his circumstances, he remained determined to keep his grades high, earning himself a full scholarship to the University of North Florida where he gained his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in graphic design and multimedia(2005). While there, he began an open mic poetry session where he practiced his stage presence and delivery. In 2013, he left his job and traveled to over 800 cities across the nation as a professional public speaker using poetry and storytelling to intrigue and inspire audiences. His speeches landed him on 2 TEDx speaker stages in Jacksonville and Tuscaloosa where he accepted an opportunity to earn a fully-funded master’s degree by the University of Alabama. He is currently in his second and final year working towards a master’s degree in Communication Studies. He plans to graduate in the spring of 2021 and continue to tell his story of perseverance on an international level. His road has not been without triumph, but Roderick is proof that anyone can make it if they never give up hope.
